And once again, I got some pics.  Oh yeah, Chelsea was there too.  Along with John Erpenbach, Barb Lawton, Kathleen Falk, and Gregory Meeks.

Catch my drift

I got home last night (barely) to find about a dozen people on Snowmist pushing cars into the farmer’s driveway at the end of the street.  No one could get up the street.  About six cars did attempt to get up the street, but had no luck.  Three were stopped in front of my house, the rest were strewn up and down the rest of the block.  The dozen people pushed my car into the driveway as well.  When I got out, they asked what time I’d be leaving in the morning.  I told them I’d make sure my car was out before they had to worry about it.

I then spent the next hour and a half doing just that.  After snowblowing my driveway, I did four swaths of the street so I could get my car out of the farmer’s driveway.  Then I went up the block and helped a neighbor up there do his driveway, and then I did my other neighbor’s driveway.  I’m thinking I should start charging folks.

I took a few pictures of my street and posted them below.

San Antonio River Walk

January 24th, 2008 No comments

I ate at Boudro’s on San Antonio’s River Walk tonight (the official site spells it River Walk, everyone else spells it Riverwalk), it was ehh.  I had stuffed quail, but it was overstuffed and overpoweringly flavorful.  The fresh limeade was very good, as was the tableside guacamole.  People were eating outside along the “river” (it’s man-made) with western-style ponchos on.

Afterwards, I took a few pics with my new camera.

Snap

January 3rd, 2008 No comments

I’ve been contemplating getting a new camera for the longest time.  Not a little point and shoot one, I already have one of those, but an SLR, one to replace my old Digital Rebel.  For the past few months I’ve been eyeing up the Canon 40D and today, I finally pulled the trigger and bought it.

I have no question about how the camera will perform, but I am wondering just how the lens will work out.  I ordered a package from US1Photo.com (I’d never heard of it, but it got great ratings and offered the best price I’ve seen for what I got), which includes a Canon 17-85 IS USM lens.  It’s not a “fast” lens per se, but it does have a large range.  I figure it’s almost the same as what I had with my Rebel, so it’s not like taking a step down.

If things go as planned, I’ll have the camera by the end of next week.  I plan to use it like crazy when I go to Asia in April.  Expect to see some test shots once I get it.
